electrical surge in lights help

my 97 lx when i drive it a night i notice u will leave the house and 2-3min after the head lights start flashing brighter along with the dash lights brighten

and go back to normal and it keeps going bright to normal gonig down the road runing a steady speed when i stop and sit there they dont do it.

my buddy has an 03 si that does it and the honda shop he took it to said it wasthe cars way a getting rid of extra power (if that makes sense to u)

i just wanted to know if any one else has a honda that does this or if somthing is wrong and i need to look into it, it has a 900amp red top optima battery in it

I would say your voltage regulator is shot. It's inside the alternator

IDK. Guess you happen to outline your questions in the way I can understand ;)

I'd say get the used or refurbished alternator ASAP. You can run into more expensive problems with jumping voltage.

hey i got another question for you my beater 89 hatch the gas gauge reads full all the time but this morning it came down to just under 1/4 tank which

was probably right, when it did i stop a the gas station and put10$ init thegauge went up to about 3/4 of a tank the slowly made its way back to

above full,i checked advance auto today for a fuel sending unit they said i had to buy the whole pump assembly to get that its 118$. is that what u

think it would need to fix it or is it mabey somthing else. the car sat for over a yr before i got it ive drove it for a few months, its got 235k miles on it
