Post Engine Noise

Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm fairly young but i know a good deal about civics but i had a question... I have a 94 civic dx and if I turn my car on and step outside to watch my engine run I always notice how loud the engine is. Is this normal? The motor runs well and pulls as hard as any other D15 pulls. Its not an exhaust problem or the belts making noise either. I always change my oil when i'm supposed to and just wondered if there is a reason? or just the age of the motor? Thanks

Older Civic motors have a tendency to have noisy valve train.
