Question advice on upgrades?

i found out that my 1997 honda civic ex has a bad rod in the motor due to a blown head gasket. this is my first foreign car i know nothing about them. i am going to replace my engine. can anyone suggest an engine, turbo, cold air intake, cams, headers. chip, i'm familiar with american muscle but hondas are new to me. i want top end speed and endurance more than a quick burst of speed i race curvy backwoods roads in tennessee as well as nascar type tracks so i want more long distance than anything however being able to race straight aways as well would be a plus

What color was the smoke?

If it's white, it's probably a head gasket, or something coolant-related.
If it's blue, it's oil, and something really bad.
If it's black, you're burning too much fuel.

Start by retrieving trouble codes to narrow down your search.

Also before attempting to start the engine again, check the oil and coolant levels. Check coolant in the radiator not just in the plastic tank.
