Default Engine is ticking....

I got a 98 w/ 1.6L VTEC with about 90k. When she's idling, there is a ticking coming from the motor? Does anyone know what this is?

Sound like its coming from the head? If so, probably time for a valve adjustment

It's quite simple to adjust the "valve lash" yourself. They used to have instructions in the owner's manual. Any decent third-party mechanic could do it as well. You are kind of overdue for a timing belt change if you haven't done that yet either.

Well, he said 90k miles... im guessing that it could be a simple as the water pump. Which means hes due for his tune up.

Honda could fix the tick for free? would u just go to any Honda dealership and ask to fix it? I feel lame for asking but do u go into like the showroom and ask a salesman or to the garage ? sorry
