eratic idle

so my 95 civic ex coupe was idlin really eraticly and was throwin a check engine light at me so i checked it out and it turned out to be a code 10 which is the intake air temp so i replaced it with one on a spare intake mani i had but it turns out what i replaced was the idle air control sensor cause it was still idlin real bad so when i checked the codes again now it had the same old 10 cause i never fixed that and now its got code 14 which is the idle air control which i accidentally replaced my question is would it have wrecked the iac when i took it off if the battery wasnt disconnected id like to know cause now i gotta replace both the iac and iat sensors right

For the love of god, please try using a period (or some sort of sentence structure..)

Just put the other IACV back on, and go from there.

well, i have a 00 ex coupe and 7 months ago i ran into almost the same problem as your. for some reason, i adjust and lower the idle and that solved my eratic idle problem. i don't know if you try that already, but it won't hurt and good luck.

You shouldn't just go adjusting the idle screw to try and fix the problem. 99% of the time thats just going to cause more issues, and make it harder to find the oringinal problem.

Just take it one step at a time, put the other IACV back on, fix the IAT sensor, and work from there

It is OK to disconnect most of these parts (except the ECU itself)without disconnecting the battery, but the key should be off. As I'm sure you realize now, the IAT sensor is a little plastic sensor attached with two Philips screws to the manifold and it has a two-wire plug.

so u guys think that the iac that i put on from my spare mani was just a dud then and if i put the original back on it should be fine? does that mean that my iat from the same spare mani is also prolly faulty and i should just buy a new one

Change the IAT and reset the ECU, it may idle properly then. Your used IAT is probalby good unless physically damaged, then you should buy a new one.

Remember that at first it was doing exactly what it's doing now, so both of the IACs are probably good. You can't always trust the ECU to not set a code related to a good part while something else is wrong. In other words the code 14 may be spurious.
