The second O2 sensors tells you if the cat is working properly, so if you don't hvae a code then your cat is prolly fine (you have OBDII). As for the other sensors, if there isn't a CEL then they should also be fine. In OBD II you will have a check engine light if there is anything that will cause your emissions to go up or anything wrong with your engine. $70 to check a CEL is way too much, AutoZone does it for free. Also check the Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) with the scan tool, if the fuel trim is above 10% it sets a code, but if its around 8 or 9 that will not set a code but it could cause fuel economy problems.

 

The $70 was not just to check the code, but for the machine, and the labor for troubleshooting the problem for the 1st hour (minus any parts of course!!)

-I actually got a CEL yesterday. I will get the code checked and post. I'm afraid it will be the same general code I received last time, (System too rich/too lean. Bank 1.) How broad and vague is that, huh??
