Default gauge backlights won't come on??

I have a 2005 honda civic DX 5spd. I put a cd player in it last night and today my gauge and climate control lights will notcome on,only the mileage box had a light.i have checked the fuses and only found one burnt out ,which was the "small light" fuse. after replacing it the mileage box lightwould go out when the headlights were turned on,but the gauge light and climate control lights still don't come on. Could the dimmer switch be bad or is there another fuse i should check? Is there something that i may have shorted out when i put the cd player in, its not the first time i've put a cd player in a car so i'm not completely lost......just out of ideas...

I would rather think about disconnecting something accidentally...

Did you check the fusebox under the hood as well?

yeah, thats were I found the first burnt out fuse for "small Lamp". unless I'm overlooking something.....???? maybe the lights are tied into another circuit??? I don't think I disconnected anything, the mileage box still lights up, I could be wrong though.....

Only thing i can think is this:

1. What wire did you ground out causing your fuse to burn?
2. Check your bulbs? I dont know much about 05's but my 00 has bulbs for the gauges. Yours might be led or something. Its unknown to me as far as that goes.
3. Check your wires on your deck. Have you done an install before? Chances are you have so im just wondering. But in case you havent maybe you hooked up the dimmer to something? I know i hooked mine into my dimmer switch and my dash lights wouldnt work.
4. Did you cut off the the harness and just hook it up to the deck or did you get the aftermarket adapter? I know some of my stuff quit working(dinger etc) when i replaced the stock deck with a bose adapter/deck. Sometimes when you cut wires for decks it also disables other things. I dont know why but its stupid that they have the dinger hooked up to the deck...??? tards.

I've checked all fuses and haven't found any bad,so I'm thinking that it my be the dimmer switch. does anyone know how to remove the gauge bezel..cause i can't get it out, is there something else holding it in other then the two screws at the top??

My 97 gauge cluster install required me to take off the lower panneling there below the steering wheel, and the plastic around the steering wheel to make room to get to the clips that are holding my black housing in. There were 2 screws on the top that I took off, and a clip on both sides of the bottom, far left far right. I broke one of the clips before I figured it out, super glue goes a long way.

After that, there were 4 screws holding the cluster in, and a plastic housing that covers the front, the thing you look through to see them. That should just pop out with a clip or two, then the wiring is behind it.

Never know, some funky fuse might be installed on the thing, I don't know much about that model, just tellin ya what i encountered.

Still sounds like a fried wire, or ground somewhere. You can probably bypass the dimmer switch by just pulling the wires off each side and tying them together to test, however I have never done this, so don't take my word on that without some outside input.
