Default getting on the road again

hey everyone. its come about that time to get my dad's old 1986 honda civic crx si back on the road. its been sitting for around 5 years in a carport with a cover, and ran perfectly fine when it was parked. i know its going to need a new battery, tires, and fluids replaced. what else should i do? i have done work on cars before, but not without knowing what was wrong first. what other things on it should i check out to make sure shes running perfectly again?

You will probably need to drain the gas tank and put some fresh gas in. The tank should have a drain plug on the bottom. Is it carburetor or fuel injection? The carb ones from that time were very complicated and difficult to keep running properly (parts are unobtanium). Fuel injection is much better.

Check for rodent damage. Very common to find mouse nests in the air cleaner box and A/C ducts, as well as hoses and wires eaten under the hood.
