Default grinding noise when i turn brake drum with tire off

hi,

1996 honda civic automatic with 150,xxx miles.

i recently jacked up the rear end of my car and took the tire off. i turned the brake drum by rotating the studs and heard a scrapping sound. is this normal?

i took off the brake drum and turned the studs and the scrapping sound went away.

i looked at the brake drum and it has rust on it around the edges.

anyone else have this problem?

You can turn the drum by the stud indicate that it should be fine.

it normal.. either shoe is rubbing the drum or the drum is rubbing against the shield a little.
