Default Hard shifting.

So recently my car has started being a bitch to shift... the worst is shifting into 2nd gear... I have to give it so much force, and i can't shift fast cuz of it, theres like a 1.5-2 second delay from when i press in the clutch to when i actually manage to push it into 2nd gear, just because i have to use that much force. All the gears require some force, more than normal, but shifting into 2nd is just horrible.

So... like wtf? lol.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions? and sorry if this is a stupid question, i'm a tech noob...
Also is bad for the car that i'm driving it like that?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.

*Note: It's a 2000 Civic DX, 109k miles.

take it to a tranny shop, let him drive it around the parking lot, and then ask him, other than that, it sounds like something is up

I have a friend that uses synchromesh and he says it shifts like butter. Apparently butter shifts easily.

maybe your clutch is going. mine started out not bad and the more i drove it the worse it got. to the point where i had to turn the car off to put it in gear it was bad.

the same thing happened to me....and im pretty sure that if it was shifting pretty well before and now its getting harder to that its a lubrication issue (i could be wrong), but usually in hondas the exhuast is right below the shifter brushing and stuff, and it tends to dry it out.....so u just need to lubricate it up and u should A-ok....i stand to be corrected, it just sounds like what happend to me last summer

try lubricating the folcrum ball joint as well...sometimes if it's dry it becomes difficult to move...i just lubed up mine and it is shifting a lot better, just some grease was all that i needed to smooth out the shifts
