headlight trouble

hi i have a 97 civic and for some reason the light bulb keeps falling out of the lamp in my headlight. i went to a local pepboys and all he said that i need a "socket" with out too much of an explanaition and said that i couldnt buy or order it from them. i am very much a newbie to this and for some reason, the guy didnt want to help me any more that telling me the name of the part. i found this from one of the links on the forum:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...002821/c-10101

but im not sure if this is the part he was talking about and if it is, how im supposed to install it. any help is really appreciated.

thanks

RE: headlight trouble

by falling out do you mean it falls literally out of the housing and into the engine bay? or does the connector fall off of the bulb? if the bulb is falling out, 97 civics have a small spring that crosses over the back of the bulb and fits into a slot on the other side, holding the bulb in with spring pressure. if that spring is damaged or missing, the bulb would fall out. it's held in on one side with a small screw, the other side swings into the slot made for it. probably cheap from the dealer, just look at the other side and you should be able to install it after you verify that is your problem.

then it's the spring, check to see if it's installed like the other side. it's got a rubber boot surrounding the bulb, pull that off (after you disconnect the connector) and look at the spring on both sides.
