Default Help with tune up

my 1989 crx needs a tune up really bad but im not sure what i need though. it has a swaped motor in it, the JDM B16A, what distributor do i need? i was checking on prices at the parts store and the only car i could think of with a b16 was a 1999-2000 civic si. will everything that fits on that motor fit on mine?

you don't need a new distributor, necessarily, probably just a new rotor and distributor cap. both are relatively cheap if you buy them online from places like pro street online or even an OEM honda parts supplier.

as far as what you'll need for a tuneup, that depends.

you should definitely get a new timing belt, spark plugs (cheaper if you buy them at your local auto parts store), spark plug wires, thermostat, radiator coolant and oil at the minimum. you should also adjust your valves.

you can do everything relatively easy by yourself EXCEPT the timing belt. that's a major project, which requires the help of a second person, preferrably someone mechanically inclined -- as well as a HELMs OEM repair manual for your year car or engine.

I recently did my 90,000 and 115,000 mile tuneup with my dad all at once. It took two days, but I got everything I needed done at once.

Ironically, my timing belt was in decent shape. My power steering, alternator and ac belts were toast though, so luckily i changed those out too.

all the belts and everything are in good shape but i noticed my car was missing the other day when it was raining out, and now its running like junk. my other car had the same problem so i had the cap and rotor, wires and plugs done and that fixed the problem up perfect. other than the miss the car is in great mechanical shape so im not to worried about the other stuff. but back to the original question, will the stuff off a 1999-2000 civic si fit my b16a engine?
