Default Hi, I have a few questions about my new car

hi, I just bought a 99 honda civic CX hatchback, I got the 1.6 L engine . around 130K miles

I got a few questions, first of all, I hate the cluster gauges, no RPM on a manual car? is that normal or my car got swapped ?

also, my shifter is loose, shifts fine, but I can play and move it in every possible directions, how do I thigthen this?

also, when I leave the car in neutral, rest of the clutch, I can hear a small ''SHHHHHHHH'' when I press back on the clutch it disapear.

when I put in first, will do it and looks to go along the RPM, also in second, but after third it is mostly gone.

1. The CX and DX don't have a tach. Swap in a gauge cluster from a 96-00 LX to get the tach. Plug n' play, no modification required.

2. Your shifter bushings are probably worn.

Definitely replace parts #7 and 10 in the diagram. You also should replace parts 16 and 14 but you can get polyurethane Energy Suspension shifter bushings that will be stiffer and offer less shifter play.

You can also try replacing the parts at the bottom of the shifter in the diagram, 23, 11, and 4... but i've never done that and i'm not sure how much that will help. The other parts I named though will definitely help.

3. Sounds like your ISB (input shaft bearing). Since you can hear it while you're driving i'd say you should replace it pretty soon, it must be pretty bad. My ISB is shot too but I can't hear it if i'm not idling.

I looked at a SIR cluster this morning, looks nice, will it fit in my CX? And how much they go for?

Also ,
Where is the ISB located? And usually how much does it cost to replace?

Thanks,

I've read a bit, might aswell swap the whole engine-tranny unit to go more power because I need to take down the tranny apart to change that stupid little bearing,

Yeah, we used to have an ISB DIY thread. i think it was incomplete, but there IS a DIY on Honda-tech.
