Default HID Install

I have fitted HID's to my Girlfriends 95 Civic Coupe, They are H4 Bi-Xenons the problem I have is before they were changed when you turned the sidelights on the main bulb would also light up but very dim.

Now the HID's are in as soon as you turn the sidelights on the main beam comes on, I think this is a relay or fuse I need to remove so that when sidelights are turned on it is just sides and not stop power going to the main bulbs????

Does anyone know the answer???

I suggest you put the halogens back in and get them working properly first. If the car is the USA model without DRL the main headlamps should not come on at all with the light switch on the first click. Maybe it is the ground wires near the headlights.

The car is the USA model, hate to sound stupid but whats DRL??? pretty sure its not a grounding problem.

My brother has not long bought a Suzuki Vitara and that does the same thing, Headlights come on very dimmly when engine is on and you turn the sidelights on.

was this a "plug in play"HID kit....... or was there wiring involved on your part? - cause it sounds like a wiring issue....

sounds to me like you need to figure out some wiring issues.... use a test light to see if those wires have power coming thru them when they shouldnt..... if they do i would sugest rewiring your headlight wires...... could be some wires shorted out somwhere along the wire path... and could be a weak relay.....

try swaping out the relays first with some new ones and if the problem is still thier then i would rewire the lights...

Sounds to me like your car has DRL's, I ran into the same issue when i installed my Bixenon retrofit, pulling the fuse will eleviate the problem for now, but you will not have DRL's at all. so if they are required in your area then you may want to figure something out for that
