Honda Civic 99 DX P0402 EGR Flow excessive

Hello all,

Im trying to help my father fix his car, he has a 99 DX Civic and hes getting an error code of P0402 which means EGR Flow Excessive. I have tried googling this online but cant seem to find anything relating to this, I have even read that the 99 Civic doesnt even have a EGR Valve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Only the California model has an EGR valve. If someone put the computer from a California car into a non-Cali, you will get problems like this.

MK378 thank you for the fast response back, ill get the error code reread just to be sure. but if that was the case that would suck..

Now that I think about it since my car does not have an EGR Valve. A few months ago I replaced my IAC Valve a long with a new throttle body, i got this part from a salvage yard. I am wondering if replacing those two could be the cause of a faulty EGR P0402 Code? Any help would be helpful.
