Default How can I program a stock honda keyless entry to a 99 civic ex?

So my buddy has an 03 civic ex and he couldn't get the keyless entry programmed. He told me to take it and see if I could get it to program to mine. He told me that it is just a stock honda keyless entry remote. Anyone that can help would be great.

I don't think you can program it to yours, but if you can, the procedure is listed in post 4 of this thread:

he told me it was a universal one but I don't know how true it was. I have read some other stuff and seen where they say something about a fob....what's that?

I doubt it's true but it could be.
A fob is the remote for the keyless entry.

yea I went to a dealership today and they said it wouldn't work

what about if I go out and buy an aftermarket one like a keyless entry and remote start for example...what you guys think about that?

Alright. First, let me make sure I understand what's going on.

He has an 03 EX, you have a 99 EX. He can't program his keyless entry remote to his car. Then you tried programming his remote to your car, and that didn't work.

Correct?

Why don't you just take his car and remote to the dealer and have them program it for him?

Or... do you have keyless entry and your remote doesn't work?

right but I didn't have keyless entry on my car to start with so it wouldn't work at all and I didn't know that
