how to change the tail light assembly on 2004 civic coup?

Hi, I looked into the manual but all it had was how to change the actual lightbulb and not the entire taillight assembly. I have a used assembly to replace the one that's currently broken/busted, but would like some directions as to what to do and what not to do (eg: do I need to remove the bulbs when changing the entire assembly?)

directions with pictures and layman terms that n00bs like me can understand would be much appreciated.

thanks

I've never done one on a 7th gen but it can't be that different from a 6th gen. On the 6th gen, you pull the light bulbs out, then you look around and you'll see probably 4 10mm nuts. Use a socket to remove the 4 and the assembly should come right off.

I can't imagine it being any more complicated than that.

yea that's what i imagined... only problem is i don't think I have the right tools. other than some pliers and a range of screwdrivers i got no socket wrenches :(

I would hit up your local walmart and spend $20 on a generic tool kit that has metric sockets. If you want to do work on your Honda, you'll need them.
