Default how is lowering kits different?

i have tokico HPs and are going to try to install them myself. When ni asked my friend (mechanic) how much i would have to pay for him to install them he said since its a lowering kit $300 because its more work. If they were OEM replacements it would be $85. Im asking whats the difference to increase the price that much? and do i have everything i need (besides tools) in the kit/on my car

So you bought the whole kit or you just bought the struts/shocks?
Because the hp's themselves are not a lowering kit. They are just strut/shock replacements.
What springs are you putting on?

You can easily do the work yourself. You need 2 jack stands, a jack, a spring compressor (which you can rent from autozone) hex key set, definitly some liquid wrench, probably a hammer (seriously you'll need it to get the front struts out) and a lot of patience.

I just replaced the struts on my car with HP's last weekend so it's all pretty much still fresh in my mind.

i bought the struts and springs but together at once
all i got was struts and springs in the box
i didn't think it was a lowering kit but just had smaller springs.

my friend lives on base (AFB) and were going to go to the shop on base, so if i need help someone there can assist

There is no more work involved if you put the springs on. You already have to take the spring and shock apart to replace the shock, so it's no more work. Coilovers are a little more work because you have to adjust them, but not that much more work.

i didn't get it done all of the lifts were taken and wouldn't let me do it on jack stands
have to do it when i come back
