How Often To Change Timing Belt?
The timing belt is very important. If the timing belt snaps you could lose your engine which is a lot more than the $250 it'll cost installed at the dealership. You should also have your water pump belt changed at the same time.
The timing belt connects the camshaft to the crankshaft, which makes sure that the valves all open at the correct time and the spark ignites at the right time. If your belt snaps, it will do serious damage to your engine. I changed mine at about 100,000 which was probably a little longer than I should have waited. My honda dealership gave me an estimate of $700 to change the timing belt, change water pump, new a/c and alternator belts, and some other stuff. If you're mechanically inclined, definetly do it yourself.
Does it also cost around 250 dollars to get the water belt changed too?
If you're driving your car, would there be any way to tell if you needed the timing belt changed. I mean...would you notice a sound or hear anything if it's going bad?

It's a water pump, not a belt. And there isn't necessarily a way of telling if your timing belt needs to be changed just by driving it. You can inspect it visually for damage. If your car becomes really sluggish when accelerating, and doesn't idle right, then the belts probably damaged or got thrown off a tooth somehow. But it could also be running just fine and the belt could snap without you knowing it was gona happen. Best to have it changed before that happens.
