How to tell if a rear motor mount is bad and replace

I have a 93 civic ex auto 1.6

How do I tell if the rear motor mount is bad? When I rock the car back and forth while in park, I can see the support thing move up and down and the car will knock if in the 2k RPM range unloaded, most noticeable when warm.

I've looked elsewhere and they say you have to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Is this true? Has anyone done this job before? I will have time next week to do this project if I feel this is the problem. I have asked this same question many times before here with no luck. Would someone who knows this topic well chime in? It would be GREATLY appreciated as this knock is driving me up the wall!

Work from the bottom of the car, it should come out pretty easily.

From the description, does it sound like it is faulty? Car has never been low on oil and did not have the noise when I got the car. Only does it when hot. Ever have a motor mount act like this?

replacing the rear mount may seem difficult, but it really isnt. its more time consuming than difficult. took me a while to install my rear motor mount inserts but with elbow adaptors and long extensions, it was simple.

i used this DIY as a guide. this is for 96-00 models but the process is still the same. u dont have to remove the intake manifold or any hoses, wires, plugs, etc.. maybe the only thing u may want to move out of the way is the charcoal canister but just move it aside, u dont have to take it out.
