humming from throttle body???

so im still on the quest of getting my car started and i think it was kinda outta time and we fixed that and its closer to sounding like its wants to start but still no dice...the thing i wanted to ask though is when the key is on but not trying to start is there suppose to be a humming sound coming from the TB???....when i turn it off and and take the key out it quits but i just wanted to know if its suppose to do that or not and maybe if it had something to do with my whole mess.

RE: humming from throttle body???

how do you know it's coming from the throttle body? Was your car haveing any symptoms befor it stopped running? So you checked the distributor cap and rotor and replaced spark plugs as well as the starter already right? Does the starter crank but the engine doesn't turn over or does it run then quit?

RE: humming from throttle body???

cranks but just wont turn over at all....this all started getting worse and worse when it would idle so low at light and just die...my timing belt was loose and we fixed it and it might have been outta time but not sure.Anyways now it seems like the more we try to start it that its slowly getting better almost starts now.I almost thought it was maybe bad gas but i dont know if that would be enough to cause all these problems getting it started.

RE: humming from throttle body???

Maybe try some throttle body cleaner and clean the idle air control valve. But I don't think that would cause a car to not start at all if that was the problem???

I dunno you got me stumped [8D]

Hope you figure it out tho, I'm interested to see what the problem is.
