Default I need some help with this, gas gauge problems, a big wtf!

Ever since I bought this car Aug 9 I have always been having problems with teh gas gauge. At first it wasnt really noticeable, but me as the driver noticed it anyway.

The needle reads F after I fill up and then like 15-20 miles later it reads 3/4 tank, and never goes back to F unless I fill up. It it keeps getting lower and lower drastically as I keep driving. Although on my first tank from the dealership I got 300 miles out of it.

Honda says this is 'normal' but they are blowing me off, Im practically getting 8mpg if this is a true reading which I doubt.

So I really really need your help guys n gals. Please let me know any experience with this problem you may have had or any thoughts.

Any leaks? The needle bent? Leak is a likely situation, but you prolly would have noticed a spot where the leak was.

No, I didnt notice any leaks nor smell anything, needle is not bent either. brand new no mods.

It has to be something with the needle itself or the float in the tank right?

Since its brand new and you haven't seen leaks then yeah I'm gonna say the float, if you got it from a dealer, take it back they should do the work for nuttin, I assume its under waruntee.

Fill the tank up and keep track of the miles you put on the tank. Fill the tank up again and figure out your mileage (miles divided by gallons of gas used). If your mileage is OK, I would suspect the float or the electronics associated with it. Like Chimera said, if it's new, make the dealer fix it.
