Idle Air Control Valve

Im having a problem with my IACV and i want to replace it. It is held on with rivets which i should be able to dremel off. What i want to know is, can i use one from an older civic? I have a 1997 and the junkyard near me only has 92-94 and sometimes 95. Would the iacv from those model years work on my 97??? If not, is their any way to make the damn thing work right. Sometimes after its warmed up, ill put it in park and the car will all of a suddon jump up to like 1700rpm's. It will jump from 1300 to 1700 and if your behind it, almost as if its running out of gas. If i try to drive it like that, the car barely moves but when i turn it off then back on, it runs as if nothing happened but it throws a code. When i look up the code, it says something about the iacv. Should i drive the car into a wall see if it works better lol?

Thanks,
_Dan

RE: Idle Air Control Valve

I seriuosly doubt it becuase your 97 will have OBD2 and 92-94 has OBD1 electronics. Somebody correct me if i dont know what the hell im talking about.
