Idle response at start; cold car warm day...
I posted this a while back and never received any response. I thought I would try again. All winter the car started normally, now that is is warming up the starting idle behavior has started again. Too wierd...Any ideas would be appreciated.

Upon first start up, engine is cold, the car starts, the idle slows way down (the vent fans and everything slows down too) and then over the course of 2-3 seconds it revs back up to the regular idle speed. The car runs fine after that. Can anyone shed some light on what may be the cause? I am thinking it may be vacum related or electrical but I am not sure at all. Thanks, KR |

Is it just on cold starts? Or does it do it intermittently during operation? How about warm starts? If it's just on cold starts, I wouldn't worry about it.

it's possible that your idle air control valve might be clogged. it can be a reason for the rough idle. clean it out with a little carb cleaner. the iacv usually gets clogged at mileage 100,000 plus.
