Default Idling/running problem

I have a 95 civic ex and it wouldn't start. So I changed the started, distibuter and cap. Now it starts and runs (barely) It won't stay idling and if I floor the gas it won't go higher than 2200 RPMs. I can drive it around a little, but only in 1st gear. Once I try to shift into 2nd, it dies. I tinkered around with the timing on the distributer but nothing. Any advice?
