ignition coil?
This is inside my distrubtor right? I just bought a new one today, but the guy said it didn't come with the coil and I could just use my other one. When I took the cap off, isn't the coil the part with the spring in the end? If so I think it is there, otherwise how do I take off the plastic spiny thing to put in a new coil?

RE: ignition coil?
Yes that is the coil. To get the "spinny" thing off, rotate the crank shaft so that you can see the screw and unscrew it. Push really hard on the screw driver as the screw may be tight. Have a pair of needle nose pliers ready to get the screw out so it doesn't fall down where you don't want it to. I had to break my rotor off to get it off, it may be easier for you though.
Note: do not try to turn the shaft that the "spinny thing" is on. Turn only the crankshaft and if you turn it through the wheel well with a ratchet, and don't forget to remove the ratchetbefore you crank the engine.I forgotto remove it andIruined a CV boot and had to replace the whole shaft. Good luck! |
RE: ignition coil?
Ok but mine is off already...it's brand new..fresh outta the box..so it does have the coil then if that part with the spring on the end is there?
