Default Key Wont Turn Over!!

Hey guys I recently got a 99 Honda Civic LX and it is in beautiful, like new condition. Its flawless with nothing wrong with it... except one thing. When I put the key in I have a hard time turning it over to start. I try jiggling it and everything but sometimes it just doesnt wanna budge. I'd eventually get it to start by putting the key in, pulling it out a lil while trying to turn it over, and then putting it back all the way in and turning it. Sometimes that method works, sometimes it doesnt. Can yall think of a reason why my Civic is doing this? Is this one of those hidden safety features? lol

Help out a Civic newbie!!

Thanks.

Try turning the steering wheel back and forth to remove stress on the locking mechanism. If that's not it, the lock and/or the key is worn out. You can replace it yourself of course, but having a dealer or locksmith do it they should set it up so your same new key also fits the door and trunk locks.

Default key trouble

I had problems with my key also I tried to have a new key cut at the local auto parts store but it still did not work he suggested going to the dealer and have them Punch out a key (apparently its more precise) .They need your vin number and proof that you own it and they can cut you a key in a few minutes for like $8.95 . I did just that went to the Honda dealer went to the parts counter filled out a paper with my info and within a few minutes the came out with a fresh key it has worked great ever since I have never had a problem starting my car since . Hell its worth $8.95 to try it and see if it works for you to !!

they made it from my VIN

and i give a ****, you're telling him a really skewed price
why are you getting so pissed off, i did nothing but say it's 1.95.

and it's the internet... i don't have to be asked for my 2 cents to state it.

all i did was say that it's 1.95, because it is.
i'm not criticizing you for saying 8.95, i was just stating the correct price.

and no i don't really give a ****, i just said that because you were getting pissy over me correcting you when you were slightly wrong

someone like you on every forum... the guy who gets all pissed off when someone corrects him
