Leaking oil
It's been a pretty long time since I last posted, since I haven't been running into any problems with the civic after I it got fixed a few months ago... But just recently, I noticed that the engine seems to be leaking oil. The oil is visible on the block... There's a coat of oil all over the region where the engine model is written. After cleaning off the oil with a tissue, I further inspected the leakage and found some oil underneath the VTEC solenoid. Are there any oil seals I should be checking?

RE: Leaking oil
Could be the valve cover gaskets. Very easy to replace![sm=yeahsmile.gif]

RE: Leaking oil
cam seal in the front of the engine.
may need that. but as INJE has posted, i would do the valve cover gasket first does it leak around the oil cap ?? if so, need new one |
RE: Leaking oil
Lol... what does the oil cap have to do with anything? The oil cap I mean...

RE: Leaking oil
I dont think its the valve cover gasket because the oil thats leaking is no where near the valve cover, oil cap, the entire head for that matter. Its all over the block. Like I said, the portion where the engine model number is located. Will post pics of it when I get the time. Meanwhile, I guess I'll get the VC gasket checked for safety. :D

RE: Leaking oil
what year.
dont know exactly where your block num is. probably then is the oil pan gasket. front side or back. how is it around the oil filter ???? |
RE: Leaking oil
my 88 leaks around the oil cap.
although he said block, guess i was thinking about the head (my bad). made a new (additional) gasket for the oil cap |
