Losing Oil Problem
Hello All,
I have a 90 Si that goes thru lots of oil, but it makes no sense. Not leaking and the car runs perfect ! No fouled plugs. Does leave a blue cloud sometimes , but not all the time.
I think I've narrowed it down to the crankcase breather chamber letting my PCV suck oil up into the intake. Anyone else seen this problem ? Is there a filter or some type of baffle that could fail in the chamber ?
I installed a cold air intake, and the valve cover vents thru a filter to open air. Should I run a breather hose from my intake tube to the valve cover instead to try and better balance the crankcase pressure ?
Hope somebody can answer this one ....

Thanks for the reply, but I don't suspect the rings.
I've had other cars with bad rings and this acts totally different.
It always runs great !
The high oil use comes and goes, not constantly bad (forgot to mention that in the post) and the blue smoke out the tailpipe isn't there all the time either.
When I checked the PCV a few days ago, it was stuck open. Now with a new PCV, the problem isn't quite as bad. I checked the PCV yesterday and there was oil in it on the intake side and in the hose between the PCV and the intake.
That's why I suspect the breather chamber being bad....
