Default loud cracking sound coming from the driver side wheel!

I have a 1994 honda civic, recently there is this loud cracking sound coming from the front driver side wheel. It ususally makes the noise, when I turn the wheel, make a stop or when I take off. To see where the noise was coming from I took off the wheel, then I used a jack to lift the whole side to see where the noise is coming from. The noise seemed to be coming from the top of the spring, where its bolted to the car. I replaced one of the control arm bushings, however the noise is still there. Can anyone shed any light on what the problem can be? Do I need to replace on the axel? maybe the coil spring is worn out? I would really appreciate some feed back. Oh I also replaced the motor mount, but still that didnt fix the problem.
