Low Compression ? Help~!

So i took my teggy into get checked with the evac and it was 100% fine.
Then test ran up the problem was my 3rd cylinder was showing low compression. I was told to fix this is to completely
polish the port? cylinder?(i forgot) and it would cost around $750 dollars.! ughh, i don't wanna pay this much;
any ideas guys to work around this?

what were the numbers? how low? could be a bad valve or head gasket or worn cyl.
have a leak down test done to determine if its the piston rings or if its something else.

the only real way to get this fixed is to pull the head off and inspect.then repair and put the motor back together, damn dude that really sucks

i wasn't there i was told over the phone.
my HC (Hy...Carbons, forgot the full name) on the smog was reading at 25mph i could only have 49 (% or amount) and i had 61.
So what is there to do if the valve/head gasket/worn cyl is bad?

EDIT: I wish i could just get it removed and looked at thoroughly, but my dads mechanic friend is not a really close friend.

Any other ideas to maybe try?? :/

if your looking for some type of magical liquid to pour in it and be done, dont think its gonna happen, but you can "try" a few things to see if it improves, . like lucas oil, and also try the seafoam.

I'm aware that magical liquid isn't in retail in my area. but if it was then i'd be problem ridden.
lol.. If i were to go to a junkyard could i find something for cheap and give it a try? just an idea i mean i don't know what part of the engine i'm dealing with.

Actually...

Try this stuff

Might help, might not. You can get it at the local auto parts store.

Make sure to read the directions, I think you're supposed to change the oil after only a little while.

Lucas isn't going to help, that's for helping with the valve seals. Seafoam won't either, that's for cleaning carbon buildup and cleaning your injectors.

trustdestruction if we had a like button i'd press it like 50 times for that link you gave me.!

i'm willing to try this first, and if my problem still persist then i guess I'll have to try the expensive route :/
but what if this still doesn't fix the problem during smog?

Don't buy it online though, you can easily get it at the auto parts store. No sense in paying shipping.

I'm not sure about the smog.
