Low idle, lower than I'm used to.
I have a 1995 Civic DX 5 speed... after the engine warms up and I come to a stop with the car in neutral or parked I notice that the engine has a generally low idel, its like its so low it might stall, but it doesn't. I tap the gas very lightly and sharply but the engine dips a little bit lower but jumps back up to where it was and continues on.
This is the first Civic I've owned... I'm used to a B18 and a F22, but what is the idle range for a Civic DX?
Also, I recently picked this Civic up off my buddy for cheap, he is a mechanic... there is a new (used) engine in it, still the D15B7, because the previous owner let the factory engine die of oil starvation, and he says he replaced the timing belt before installing the engine. Is there any way to check the age or durability of the belt by looking at it, or should I just replace it?
Thanks in advance.

Is it a sedan or a two door? I have a sedan and I noticed it tends to do that from time to time. Nothing wrong with it though. better be sae than sorry with the timing belt, so I would replace it.
Mine did that. It was the PCV valve. DoH!
Did it again and it was a clogged fuel filter.
Did it again and it was a radiator leak.(I have no idea why it caused that)
Recently it started doing it again, and it was because my A/C Compressor was on the edge of cutting out and labored the engine more than usual. Cut off the A/C, if it gets better, BAM.
Also, check your timing, check any vacuum lines, maybe check fuel pressure if you can get a tester.
