Low idle when ac is engaged 6th gen civic
Recently, when my ac is engaged the idle drops to around 600 rpms and occasionally bounces from 600 to 800 until the compressor turns off. When it does it, hot humid air is blowing out of the vents. It doesn't happen when the engine is cold. It also isn't a problem when the idle is forced to be higher like when it is in gear while being driven. It doesn't have problems at startup because the idle is always higher at startup.
I replaced the idle air control valve and that did nothing. What seems to be happening is that the engine isn't revving up to make up for the extra drag from the compressor.
I met a guy at a car meet with the same generation car and engine (96-00)(D16y7) and same problem and tried the same solution that i did to no avail.
Desperate for any solution.
