Main Relay Fine... Still a Check Light Delay
Hey
I have a Honda Civic 94 Gli and Im having trouble starting it. In the mornings when I first go to start the car I have to wait for the check light to go off which usually take 1-2 minutes. However if I go to start the car again after being started recently before the check light goes off within a few seconds. Ive read a fair bit on the internet and Ive found that this tends to be the main relay and replacing usual resolves this problem. However Ive already had the main relay replaced about 8months ago. I though however it might be broken again so I found a test on the internet and the main relay tested fine. I removed the relay and applied power directely from the battery to the alternative pins on the relay and it would click instantainously. Because of this I believe the main relay is fine, however I still have the delay problem. Is it possible that there is another relay before the main relay that is causing the problem? Or is it something completely different? The fact that the first time takes so long to start indicates that something is charging up or similar? Could it be a earthing problem? Please Help
Thanks Heaps Guys

The problem with testing a main relay is that they fail intermittently. Plug your main relay back in but don't bolt it in place, let it hang down so you can reach it. The next time you experience the problem, tap on the relay and see if that gets it started.
Once you can really really rule out the main relay, the ECU itself becomes the next suspect.
