Angry Maintenance Minder

Here we go again. I take my 06 Civic in with 55,000 miles and they say the trans fluid needs to be changed. The number did not show up on the dash like Honda says it would! How do I know when these maintenance indicators are suppose to show up? Maybe it will show up next week? Maybe it keeps tract of mileage and I haven't got to that mileage interval yet?

Should I just service the car by mileage and just be done with worrying about this thing?

For example, the tranny fluid could be burned. How would the Computer know that?

I don't think I will buy another car with this system on it.

What is your experience?
