Is it me?
Somebody help me understand the following...changed the cam belt or timing belt plus the tensioner on saturday in a local shop and now the car feels somehow livelier? Maybe the car was a tad out of time? It's not too much but just feels better, I dunno???
I know the belt is supposed to be changed at approx. 100k miles but the car has only 68k, and the old belt did not have signs of wear or tear...[&:]

I swear I was told that 60k the timing belt should be changed, with our 7th gens throwing the timing off is quite an effort so I doubt it was off. You said you had the tensioner changed? maybe that...

Regarding the timing belt change...some people say 100k, Honda experts say 70k, the manual says 60k, 7thgencivic forum says a bunch of other stuff...[&:] I dunno...

i had my timing belt changed, it made a huge difference in performance, old belts do stretch somewhat so it could be messing with the timing a little bit.

yeah they might stretch a bit but to mess up with timing they would have to jump a tooth , worn stretched belts will make noise,, they are a bit looser and flap around a bit,, that is why it is a good idea to adjust the timing belt from time to time before the interval to change it ..
as for replacement of the belt it matters which climate you live in and if you do a lot of city or hwy driving
On a hot climate.. rubber components tend to dry and crack faster
if you do a lot of city driving versus hwy driving you got a lot more miles on that timing belt than the odometer reads,, remember anytime you are at a stop lite or stuck behind traffic ,, the odometer will not go up. but the timing belt is still spinning
My advice. replace t-belt at ......70-75k,, if a lot of city driving
80-85k if a lot of hwy driving
what do you mean old belts dont stretch?
i trashed 2 y8 motors due to the timing belt stretchin
and yes the car does run a lot better w/ new belt and it is noticeable especially on gas mileage
it might be hard to stretch a belt on a stock car but even w/ just catback exhaust, intake and chipped ecu i sure as hell did it twice

I guess that my mpg's will get a tad better...will check in my next fillup....
Regarding traffic, it's 80% bumper to bumper here!!! So I guess it was good for my car to have a new belt and tensioner changed @ 67k...
At a stoplight I have to step on the brake pedal a bit more now!!!

Want to hear something that will **** you guys off? The local shop charged me $80 with 6 months warranty...back in Miami I had this same job done at $400!!!
