Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
Its a metallic noise, kinda hard to explain. It does it when its getting to high rpm's before getting ready to go into the next gear. It only does it when it his has to go above 3500 rpm to shift. If it stays lower than that you cant hear it. It also doesnt seem like theres any loss of power either. I'm stumped. This started last year, nobody can seem to find any issues with it though.
99 civic 90,000 miles. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. |

RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
Mine does the same thing. Sounds like a heat shield or something. Mine does it around 2600-2800 RPMs. 99 EX w/ 104,000 miles.......
Any ideas? Anybody checked their heatshields? Any reason why we need them? I've been putting off, maybe I'll check this week........ |
RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
Yeah. Sounds like we all have the same problem occuring around 3,000rpm. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
ugh, pull off your heat shields

RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
Kinda snappy. That was my thought, but you'll notice I asked if we needed the heat shields for anything. I'll assume "ugh" means "no". Thanks.

RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
sorry, sometimes being blunt is the only way to get the point across.
You'll be fine without them |
RE: Metallic Sputtering/Vibrating
No worries, I've read enough of your posts to geet it. I'm pretty tough to offend. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Awesome, I love when people take it as a sign to be more assertive on their own, rather than getting butthurt over it.[sm=icon_guiness.gif][sm=icon_guiness.gif]
