mini me or genereal engine swap questions regarding inspection OBD2

I live in PA. I was looking into doing an B18 swap into my civic and was discouraged to do so by my local tuner (who could of made out on the deal if I did) because he said he didn't know if it would pass emissions.

This is on an OBD2 car, and I would swap in all OBD2 parts whether engine or mini me.

Basically he said they run emissions by the VIN number and that it may not pass because their computer would be looking for the D16Y7 and would find something else.

So my question is... Has anyone gone through a legitamate inspection (not getting it "rolled through") with a mini me or full swap in their OBD2 civic and passed or have you had any problems?

I guess this would be most helpful if PA people answered since that is where I live but all responses are appreciated!

hi, just do everything right and dont have you check engine light on when you go for inspection, if that doesnt work out become good friends with the inspecter, good luck.

Yeah emissions sucks. If you have all obd2 parts in there you can run the obd2 ecu for the motor without check engine lights coming on, swap ecus for a day just to get through. I have an obd1 in my obd2 car and am just now experiencing the joys of emissions legality in CT. Good luck, oh and if the computer can't read your obd2 code it gets booted to the roller, which might be better for you, as long as you have a cat installed you should be just fine.
