Default More lighted speedometer digits?

Once having turned the little **** clockwise as far as possible with headlights on, is there any other adjustment to increase display light brightness? In bright sunny days I can barely make out the numbers.
thanks

The type that needs to light up to be seen in the daytime (didn't know any Civics were like that), should light up brightest with the headlights off. When you turn the lights on it's supposed to get dimmer because the car thinks it is night.

Tried to 'adjust' with lights off and didn't seem to have any effect; shop manual says turn lights on to adjust.
PS its the Civic Hybrid, the first hybrid with manual transmission ,regaedless of the mags, some 6 years ago.
PS it also has the fastest lap of VIR for a 1387 cc hybrid 2:57.
