My headlight works on high beam but not on normal beam

The driver side(98 Civic) headlight doesnt work in normal beam. Blinker and high works.

The other headlight works just fine.

So whats wrong? Switch, fuse, blown bulb?

Thanks

Check your fuses first.

Most likely the bulb. Always suspect the bulb first. Pull it out and look at the filament. Headlight bulbs used in that model have two filaments, one for high and one for low, so it is possible (and likely) for only one beam to work. If one filament is in pieces loose in the bulb, replace bulb.

With enough use the Combination Switch (headlight switch) can fail internally. The plastic parts inside fatige and break.

Could be a cold solder joint on the module below the dash. Under the driver side there should be a grey box. Take it out, take it apart and look at the solder joints. A few may have some small cracks. Heat it up and drop a little more solder on them.

At least that was my problem.
