need help with distributor

Default need help with distributor

I need to change my distributor o ring because of a little oil leak, please give a a how to on re-doing the timing if I have to do the timing

Use a permanent marker to draw a line across the lug on the distributor and the head where the top bolt is. Then put it back on in the same position so the line lines up. Note that it is possible to engage the shaft so the rotor is 180 degrees out of phase. This won't damage anything, but the engine won't start. So you should note where the rotor points before removal. Of course then don't turn the engine while the distributor is off.

get someone that's a little more mechanically inclined than yourself to help you and teach you, and yes, follow the directions listed above.
