Need some help

Hey guys. I'm new here.

I bought my fiancee a new 06 civic about 5 years ago(wasn't my fiancee at the time).

The car has been great, except for having an electrical issue which was fixed under warranty. The car now has 58k on it.

I was running errands tonight, and was picking up dinner on the way home. At the restaraunt, there is a severe incline when you park off the main street. Naturally, from driving a 6 speed, I fully engaged the ebrake when I parked the car.

When I got back in the car, disengaged the ebrake, and drove it, the car shakes like crazy. The car idles rough, and revs really quickly and hangs while switching gears. Reverse is extremely rough as well. The wrench light, or check engine light is on. Not sure if it was previous since she drives it most the time.

I checked under the car, and no leaks. Pulled the dipstick, and it looks good. Didn't check anything else. Any guesses as to what is going on? I did a couple WOT pulls, and the car shifts fine, however, under lower load, it sounds like the car is over-reving...? I'm thinking something is going out in the tranny? Any sensors in the transmission or elsewhere that could cause this? I really don't feel like jacking this thing up and tearing it apart, being the first import I have worked on.

Thanks for any replies and help. :)

Mark

Whenever the check engine light comes on, pulling the code will usually yield some important clues.

I pulled the codes, with my OBD II scanner. No check engine light.

Was the CEL flashing, or just on?

Now it is back on again. It wasn't flashing. Whether it is on, or not, the car is still driving very rough, shaking at idle, and seems to be overreving slightly from the 1-2 shift(auto).

I was thinking it could be a bad 02 sensor, but shouldn't that have thrown a code? What about an engine mount?

Thanks again, everybody.
