Default Noise from rear pass wheel

Sometimes when I drive my 97 Civic I can hear a slight clunking sound from the rear right wheel. I can hear the same sound if I grab both sides of the wheel and pull back and forth. I can't seem to find the source of the problem. Also, when I jack the car up I cannot duplicate the problem.

Thanks in advance.

have u tightened ur lugs??

if you have.. and its still persisting.. it could be ur axle is loose.. or maybe ur strut is needing replaced.. those would be my guesses

Civics are front wheel drive, so the rear passenger wheel would not have an axle connected to it. If the strut was bad, when you push the back of the car down a couple times the problem should happen again. Also, take the wheels off and inspect the strut, if you see any fluid around the strut then it is leaking and you would have to change it.

I don't see any fluid around the strut and I made sure that my lugs are tight. I thought the lugs were loose too because I did a brake job a couple weeks ago. Today, I had a chance to take another peek at it, I remove the wheel and try to recreate the noise but I was unable to budge it. I still have the noise when I remounted the tire with car on the ground. Strange isn't it???

My e-brake works because they will lockup when I only pull the e-brake to stop the car. I don't think I assembled the brakes incorrectly. I will have to double check it in the morning to see what is wrong. The amount of movement in the wheel is very slight when I pull on it. I probably use two jacks, one for the car and the other one just to jack up the wheel assembly.
