NYS Inspection for emissions
Hello Everyone,I am new to this site ,I hope I am posting this in the right place.
I have a 99 civic si with a b18 swap? and when i went to get it inspected it failed the emmission part of the ny state test, because they said they can not read the computer at all, the battery was not disconnected or anything to cause this, but i just bought the car in PA and i dont think they have inspections. I am wandering if the test port was never connected when they did the motor swap
but i need to know where the computer is located so i can try to trace it back through the wiring and hopefully find the problem
Can anyone please tell me where i can find it

Welcome to the forum BTW. First of all, verify the motor by looking at the stamped motor code under the head and next to the transmission.
PA is basically the second strictest state in regards to emissions (second to CA).
There is probably an OBD1 ecu installed. Pull off the passenger kick panel and look at the ECU. OBD1 ecus do not communicate via OBD2 ports. Post a picture of what you see if you are unsure and we can help.
My suggestion is to verify the motor and purchase the correct OBD2 ECU.
