Overheating 87 Honda Civic CRX
did u bleed it? there mite be air in the system. theres a valve on the front of the motor by the top rad hose.... open that, when a steady flow of coolant comes out (no bubbles) it's bled.
also my old 91 civic had bad grounds and my heat guage would jump up and down erraticaly even though the car wasn't getting hot....prolly not yer problem but its a thought.

Things been bleed over and over, gonna try and take the rad out and check it tonight but water flows through it fine. As far as grounding its grounded well, just gets hot after maybe 10-20 minutes of running and the rpm starts out with a high rpm around 3 or so and stays there for about 5 minutes before dropping to 1.5-2 rpm. Adjusted the timing as best as i could but the car doesnt have the evc sticker it suppose to have under it according to haynes as to where it is set and cant find the evc for a civic crx anywhere online. This thing has us baffled so anything you guys can think of would be of great service whether we tried it already or not, close to sticking dynamite under it and blowing it up.
Thanks
Thanks
Ok come on people someone out there has to have a clue. Have replaced the water pump, the temp sender switch, new hoses, new thermostat, coolant sensor and still nothing midas says they "think" its a cracked head, but dang it no one knows. Anyone have any clue if i was to get another motor for this thing what types would work compatibility wise? Is there a site to look or what it is a 1987 Civic CRX SIR. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
well it seems u got an entirely new cooling system so the only thing i can think that it would be is a cracked head... that or theres something wrong with the elec. circuit and your guage is lying to you...let it warm up and feel the hoses going into and out of the rad, and also into and out of the heater core...if they all get hot, then coolant is circulating through the system and if the system is air-free like you say and your fan works then yer cooling system is working properly. which leads ya back to either cracked head or lying gauge.
If the head was cracked im sure ud see oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil..............it could just be a faulty gauge, or thermostat............let the car warm up and feel the rad hoses...........see which ones are hot.........if the bottom one isnt hot, that means the thermo isnt opening and coolant cant get into the radiator to cool down...............this would be sweet, as a new thermostat is like 5$
Thanks for the help guys so far nothing is showing up, the head if cracked isnt leaking oil into the anti-freeze or water isnt entering the motor and getting in the oil either. Honestly about ready now to blow the thing up if i only could and get another car. This is making no since, even tried some Bars Leak stuff that Advance Auto Parts sales that is suppose to seal cracks in the head as well as head gasket leaks and that isnt even workin wish i knew what the f--k is wrong with this car is almost like someone is haunting the d--n thing. Anyway anyone has anymore ideas please feel free to give feedback because right now im disgusted as hell with this thing.
