Default Piston rings...

So my mechanic figures my piston rings are gone, cause I'm either leaking or burning oil. Any suggestions... would it be more cost effective to just get a used engine from somewhere?

Default RE: Piston rings...

well check the compresion of the motor... if its not REALY bad id say go ahead and rering it.... and while the motors apart id go ahead and replace timing belt, water pump, and the cam and crank oil seals.... and new headgasket of course...

a replacement motor doesnt always mean its a good motor..... thiers always the risk of weak rings on them as well.
