Default Placing Jack Stands with scissor jack

Here is my dilemma. I have a '99 civic and would like to place it up on 4 jackstands and I only have a scissor jack. I know scissor jacks are usually only for emergencies but I don't have the $$ right now for a floor jack. I also know there are 4 different jacking points but my problem is since I have to jack in up on the jack point there is not enough room to slip the jackstand under there at the same time so I can lower it back down. Is there anyway to do this? Can I jack up the car at a different point? I know there have been similar threads about this but none of them have answered my question exactly.

Only for ones that raise it no more that 13". The ones that raise it to more around 17"-20" are at least $60-$80.

I feel your money pains..

this is what my poor *** would do:

borrow a heavier duty scissor jack from a truck, jack up the points under the engine and rear bumper, set the jack stands, repeat as needed with boards underneath the jack for height. ...Course, my poor *** is still alive because I usually don't listen to my own ideas, and that scissor lift would be really really unstable and overweight.
