Please Help!!!! Car turns on but turns right off
 

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX that I purchased used. Car was running fine except for a few times when I would get to a stop sign or stop light the car would begin to shake like if it wanted to stall out. It stalled a few times and I would turn it back on and press on the gas and break to avoid it from stalling out. This would happen intermittenly. The last time, I had just got on the freeway when the car shut off. I coasted it over to the side of the road and tried starting it again. The car would turn on but immediately turn back off. I can't get the car to stay on. I don't know what the problem might be. I checked the fuel pump but there is adequate pressure coming from the pump. I had a mechanic look at it and he couldn't find the problem. He thinks it might have something to do what the electrical. If anyone has experienced this problem or knows a way to fix this please email me back. Thank you for all your help.

Interesting your problem seems like the problem I been having.... I posted the following Info on a thread about 2 weeks ago or so.
I bought the entire engine harness because the distributor plug seems to be tempered with But havent's installed yet. It's on the way.

Couple of months ago My Si was stalling on me when coming to a stop, red light or down shifting to 2nd gear when you were going to park and idle would go down and car will turn OFF. Sometimes I wouldn't even know when my car had turned OFF. Even if car is turned on to warm it up before driving it would also turned off. [:@]
***Dealer fix it and problem was igniter inside distributor was lose and Air throttle needed and adjustment***
6 months later is doing it again and back at the Honda dealer and can't find the problem this time because what they fixed last time everything it's the same way they left things.I didn't get charge but the dealer couldn't find what was wrong.
***Fuel pressure was fine, good coils and igniter.
***Installed new cap and rotor and fuel filter, Idle Air Control Valve and also the main relay, map sensor.

I don't know what's wrong with it???? Any help :)

Assuming that you are confident about ruling out a fuel system problem, the picture suggests several other potential explanations for stalling.

it could be the electrical part of the ignition switch ..start the car and hold the key slightly off the start position,( so starter is not engaged) if car continous to run you found your problem,,

What do you mean by slightly off the start position ....turn backward slightly

My friends car did this, it would turn on, and turn right back off.

Mechanic said there was diesel in his gas tank somehow
he drives a malibu btw

Okay... I have good news. I just had the 4th mechanic come look at my car which has been down for about two weeks now. It started off like every other mechanic, not having a clue why the car wasn't staying on. We noticed that my check engine light came on with P1519. He checked the idle control valve but nothing looked out of the ordinary. He wanted to see how the car was cranking over so he disconnected the crankshaft sensor and turn the ignition on. To our surprise the car turned on.....and stayed on. So as far as we know, we found the root car of the reason why the car would not stay on. Hopefully with replacing the Idle control valve and crankshaft sensor my troubles should be gone.

I hope this information could help someone else and thank you guys for all your information.
