Default please help..i just added sythetic oil to my civ

hi ,

I have been using regular castro oil ever since i purchase my car back in 2004. I have a honda civic Ex model. Well, yesterday, I change the oil on my car using synthetic oil and this morning I read it on the web that it will harm my car "By switching to synthetic oil from using the regular oil for years will dislodge the baked-on deposits and leave them floating around your engine - not good."

What should I do ? I'm afraid to drive it now. Should I go ahead and change the oil and filter again. Or just drive until the next oil change date?

Thank you,

Ibflossing

don't worry. It's ok. This is true for cars that are like 50 years old!

i have a 95 civic. when i bought it, about 2 years ago, the first thing i did was put synthetic oil in it. i had no idea what the previous owner used or how often it got changed. ive used synthetic oil for every change after that .. i havent had any problems at all. engine runs great. plus when i change it at around 6k, its not even all that dirty!

Synthetic oil can sometimes cause problems on older cars/engines because it is thinner than regular oil and older engines will have bearing wear. This means that thicker oil will occupy this space much better than thinner oil. Its not always an issue but sometimes it can cause problems.

Do you even have any "baked-on deposits"? What do the parts you can see inside the oil cap look like? Bare to brown metal or chunky black stuff?
