Default PLEASE HELP ME TROUBLESHOOT THIS ONE (Tricky)

Alright ladies and gents, I was driving throught a drive through one night and had the wheel turned a little too far left and I hit a cement poll with the tire. It caused a litlle dent in the fender and threw the alignment off. I took the car into the shop to be looked at, they said I need a new rack n pinon and a new inner tir rod cause mine was bent. So I told them I'll get it done myself and save the $500 in labor cost. Got in my car and drove it home, while driving I noticed my second gear is sticking and keeps accelerating unless I press on the clutch. Got the tie rod and was going to take a look at everything. My inner tie rod does not seem to be bent at all. Please help me figure this mess out. I am not understanding what is causing second to stick and how the inner tie rod would have anything to do with that. By the way the car is a 01 civic ex 2 door manual transmission. Any ideas will help greatly. Thanks.

The tie rod may not look bent from that angle. Im willing to bet you need a new steering wheel knuckle and you need to replace the tie rod. However, it may be $500 but I think you are biting off more than you can chew. To have that replaced you need to adjust it and let me tell ya, its a son of a bitch!

That some PITA stuff, and you'll need an alignment when you're done ANYWAY.
